Less washing, mindful storage, and timeless design mean less waste and longer wear

Care that extends a lifetime

Every Nome garment carries a story — of craft, patience, and balance with nature. To preserve that story, we believe in slow care.

If a garment ever shows unexpected wear or other faults over time, we’ll be here to help. Each case is reviewed individually so we can decide together what’s best — whether that’s a repair, replacement, or guidance on how to restore it yourself.

Care Guide

Good care makes good pieces last longer. Our yak wool garments are naturally durable, but a few simple habits will help them stay beautiful year after year.

Less washing, more wearing

Yak wool naturally resists odor and bacteria. Simply air out your garment after use — washing is rarely needed.

Gentle hand wash only

When needed, hand wash in lukewarm water with mild wool detergent. Do not rub, twist, or soak for long. Rinse gently and treat with care.

Dry flat, never hang

Press out water with a towel and lay flat to dry. Avoid sunlight, heat, or hanging — it can stretch the fibers.

Store mindfully

Fold your knitwear and keep it in a breathable cotton bag.

Avoid plastic. Use cedar or lavender to protect against moths.

Pilling is natural

Yak wool naturally pills less than other wool. However, it can still pill over time, especially in high-friction areas like under the arms.

Remove pills gently with a wool comb.

It’s part of the life of a natural fiber — and a sign of authenticity.
