The Beauty of the Unrepeatable
Look closely at our featured imagery above — our model wears last year’s Noyon Sweater in Platinum Gray paired alongside this season’s Guna Scarf in the exact same color.
Notice the soft distinction between the two. Last year’s gray carries a deeper, heathered depth; this year’s shade is subtly lighter, softer, and illuminated by a different undertone. In conventional fashion, this is viewed as a production inconsistency. At Nomé, it is the ultimate mark of exclusivity and the real beauty of natural fiber.
Painted by the Steppe
Our raw yak down (khullu) is collected using traditional, gentle hand-combing methods by nomadic herding collectives on the high Mongolian grasslands. The shade of our raw yak down is a living record of the Mongolian steppe that year. The precise color of the khullu depends heavily on the animal's specific diet of native herbs and medicinal plants across the high grasslands.
The shifting weather plays an equally crucial role. Yaks endure extreme environmental necessities, surviving winter temperatures that plummet below -40°C. A harsher, prolonged frost or a sudden, early spring thaw subtly alters both the density and the organic pigmentation of the down.
An Honest Reflection
To honor this natural integrity, we completely avoid the aggressive bleaching required to force uniform colors, which would otherwise strip the fiber of its signature softness and structural strength. Rather, master artisans in Ulaanbaatar carefully sort the raw wool entirely by hand under natural daylight. This meticulous classification process relies solely on tactile expertise and visual precision.
Because of these wild, natural variables, you can never own the exact same piece twice. Every single garment carries the unrepeatable story of a specific season, a specific herd, and a specific climate. It is a personal artifact designed to endure, bloom, and mature with you for a lifetime.
